translation: Human Temple is a band of professional level, and all three songs have strong hit potential. The one ballad is only a standard ballad though, as the other songs prove that the songwriters have talent to create more captivating songs as well. (Marko Säynetkoski) A review in a Finnish Metal magazine "SF Perkele", 11/2001: Jopas on tähän demosatsiin muista yhteyksistä tuttuja nimiä pakkautunut, Human Temple on nimittäin iskelmälaulaja Janne Hurmeen hard rock-orkesteri, jota siloitellumpaa hard rockia ei liene Suomessa tehty sitten Hevi-Kirjan ja Androidsin päivien. Jo demon avaavalla Walk Between the Shadows'illa pintaan miksattuja koskettimia riittää moninkertainen määrä verrattuna mihinkään "modernimmin" suuntautuneeseen hevidemoon verrattuna ja tahtomattanikin takaraivossani pieni perkele kiljuu "bonjovieuropebonjovieurope", varsinkin kun kappale on 80-lukulaisen viehättävällä tyylillä tarttuva. ***½ (Mape Ollila) Rough
translation: A review in Strutter'zine, 12/2002: Out of Finland comes yet another sensational band. They are called HUMAN TEMPLE and like one would not expect, they don't play Power Metal a la STRATOVARIUS, SONATA ARCTICA, NIGHTWISH… This band is playing pure 80s AOR and sound a little like their countrymen of URBAN TALE, although I also heard clear similarities to early FM, SHY and even HARLAN CAGE. The demo they sent me contains 4 tracks and I have to say it sounds very good and professional for an independent band. The first 2 songs ("Walk between the shadows" and "My global mind") are both great uptempo AOR rockers like FM, AVIATOR, SHY, TREAT… "Desert rain", is a very nice AOR ballad, while bonustrack "On a night like this" is lovely midtempo AOR a la HARLAN CAGE. The band has a very good singer, the songs are quite sensational and the production is fair enough for a demo recording act, in other words, check this band out if you like high quality AOR music. Points 8,5 out of 10. (Gabor Kleinbloesem) A review in RockUnited Webzine, 5/2002: Human Temple's vocalist Janne Hurme should be a familiar name to most of our Finnish readers, although I doubt that many of them confess to owning any of the albums released under his own name. They are all sung in finnish, and contain music that is aimed toward entirely different audience - traditional dance music with only traces of pop and rock. Germans call that kind of music "schlager"... However, Hurme is a rocker at heart, and he's been singing hard rock in various bands and projects "on the side". Human Temple is one of those bands, and if these three tracks are anything to go by, they might just be the next Finnish band to be snapped up by one of the melodic rock labels out there! "Walk Between The Shadows" is the first track, and it's a glorious slice of melodic hard rock in the vein of Treat, Dokken or Europe - strong hooks and lots of keyboards! "My Global Mind" represents the heavier side of the 'Temple. It is somewhat more complex structurewise, yet still quite melodic. Good chorus too. Last but not least, "Desert Rain" is a keyboard-driven ballad, with echoes of House Of Lords and other similary big-sounding, "majestic" bands. (Kimmo Toivonen) A review in AOR Dream Zones Website, 1/2003: Talk of Finland with a name like Human Temple, I have to say that I was expecting a neo-classical progressive rock band, not a superb band who play pure melodic rock and AOR, check out the first song on this demo called 'Walk Between The Shadows', this song is superb it's heavily layered with keyboards and is very much like a mix Robert Tepper, FM, Artica, Emerald Rain, especially the vocals of Janne Hurme who sounds a cross between the guy from Emerald Rain, Gary Hughes and Robert Tepper, so this song was a real suprise and for a demo the recording doesn't sound bad either. The next song 'My Global Mind' is also very catchy and is pompy melodic rock with a soaring chorus and a red hot guitar solo from Petri Kitti which reminds me of Scottish rockers The Promise. The piano ballad 'Desert Rain' makes a strong impression because the vocals are sung with real emotion, it's the type of song I can imagine Dare performing and is really good and lastly 'On A Night Like This' opens up with stunning axe work and is a brilliant AOR song, the lyrics are strong and the song makes me think of Arcara and Harlan Cage and end a rather suprisingly good set of demos from another of Finland's up and coming sensations. (Nicky Baldrian) A review in Rockheads.dk website, 2/2003: This band most be one of this years best kept secrets that haven’t been signed yet. Coming from Finland, that already have produced one great band Urban Tale, Human Temple is te next big thing out of Finland and out of the European melodic rock scene and to show of on that they have songs like Walk Between The Shadows and the fabilous and fantastic outstanding song On A Night Like This that simple makes the ice melt around you in these cold times that the winter is. The band are currently working on new material and one shouldn’t think it’s gonna be to long before they are signed to a label. Rating 85/100. A review in Melodichardrocktoday.tk website, 5/2003: Vocalist Janne Hurme and drummer Petri Letho formed their first band back in 1986. They worked under different band-names and with many musicians from Turku in Finland. In 1995 vocalist Janne Hurme started a solocarreer and it ended up with great success, he became one of the most popular artists in Finland in very short time, but at the same time he never lost his interest in hardrock. In 1998 Human Temple was formed with Janne on vocals, Petri on drums, Jari Salo on guitars, Harri Kinnunen bass, Tomi Kostian keyboards. In fall of 2001 they recorded their first demo Walk Between The Shadows, the demo went to magazines webzines and record companies and the band received great response from all over the world. Human Temple did also add the tracks from the demo on their site + one new song from 2002, On A Night Like This. This last track became the most downloaded song from their site. Their music is melodic hardrock/AOR and the opening track on their demo, Walk Between the Shadows, is a great song and I understand why Janne got so popular in his country when I hear his great voice on this song. The band also seems to be very tight in the rhythm section, with a fine guitar solo by Jari. Desert Rain is a ballad with vocals and piano at the start, and I`m sure that if this song has got some playing time on radio stations around the world it could be a number one hit! I think On A Night Like This is so far their strongest song recorded, it has all elements a good melodic hardrock song should have. So it`s time to look out for new bands from Finland, Human Temple are working on their first full length album at the moment and if their songs are as strong as on their demo I think Human Temple soon will climb up to the elite of this bands in Scandinavia. So I hope we in the nearest future can buy our first album from Human Temple. A review in Powerplay Magazine , 8/2003: The second band from Finland this month are Human Temple who formed in 1998. The band has had several line-ups with core members Janne Hurme (vocals) and Petri Lehto (drums) being the only ever-present members. Lead vocalist Janne has had a very successful pop career with several hit singles to his name, however hard rock was always in his veins and Human Temple was born. The band play keyboard dominated AOR that shows great promise, with the vocals of Janne Hurme taking this band from the realms of mediocrity with a great performance. The first three songs on this demo were recorded by the first line-up and other than "Walk Between The Shadows" they leave a lot to be desired. However, their most recent song "On A Night Like This" is a truly mesmerising affair that reminds me of bands like Coastland Ride and Orange Crush to name but two. This song was a hit for Janne in his pop days (albeit with a slightly different arrangement) and it's class shines through. With more songs of this calibre we will have a band to be reckoned with.
